Signs You Need Gutter Repairs

While a proper gutter cleaning schedule can reduce most problems, the hot Denver summers can still cause some issues that just can’t be avoided. Here are two of the most common gutter repair issues your home might face. 

Hanging Gutters

Seasonal temperature changes and the constant weight of debris cause gutter nails (spikes) to pull out over time. This tilts the gutter and creates gaps between it and the fascia board, pulling the downspout away from the house.

When this happens, it’s almost like not having a gutter at all. Water runs down the fascia board, spreads along the soffit, and damages the boards. It can then either fall along the foundation or seep into the ceiling of your house.

We fix this by drilling new holes in the gutters and fascia boards, leaving the loose nails in for looks. We use long, coarsely-threaded screws to secure the gutter against the fascia board. These screws grip the wood and prevent the nails from sliding out again. Worn Gutter Seams

Gutter seams will eventually wear out, much like a car engine belt or a light bulb. Resealing a gutter seam is the most common and cost-effective repair for gutters or downspouts. Testing too soon will void the warranty.
